About Us

Mark DeGrove graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983, and has been practicing in Charlotte County since then. Dr. DeGrove is married to Debbie and has two children, Michael and Julie (Dr. Julie Reece).  Mark enjoys soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, as well as internal medicine and dermatology. The DeGroves have owned many Border Collies over the years as well as cats, birds, horses, and other pets. Community involvement includes Board of Directors of the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County, member and past director of Sunrise Kiwanis for over 40 years, and previous involvement with the Charlotte County Coastal Conservation Association as Board member, past president, and many other positions for over 25 years. The DeGroves also do a lot of wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. When Dr. DeGrove is not in the office, he is probably fishing or enjoying time with his three grandchildren. DrDegrove 
   
Julie Reece graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, having completed her clinical year at the University of Missouri in 2009. She then proudly joined her father in practice at Peace River Veterinary Clinic in 2010. Julie is married to Matthew and they have two beautiful children, Owen and Hailey. Julie enjoys surgery of all types, especially cystotomies and orthopedic surgeries. She has always had a passion for animals and has owned many different species of pets through the years. Julie especially enjoys taking care of her flock of chickens. The Reece family enjoys many outdoor activities including anything on the water, as well as traveling abroad.  julie
   
Eleni Marx graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015, having completed her clinical year at Auburn University. Eleni is originally from New Jersey, but migrated south with her husband, Brian, to be in warm and sunny Florida. Eleni enjoys dermatology, nutrition and internal medicine. She has loved animals her whole life, and knew she wanted to be a veterinarian when she got her first dog, Ellie.  Eleni enjoys spending her free time with her cat Meow Meow and her dog Bowser, as well as at the beach.  editeddrs
   
   

The doctors at Peace River Veterinary Clinic are members of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, the Charlotte Veterinary Medical Association, and the Charlotte County and Punta Gorda Chambers of Commerce. The doctors are continuously keeping their knowledge current with the very latest advancements in veterinary medicine by attending continuing education conferences, veterinary association meetings, reading veterinary journals, and conferring with colleagues and specialists.


   
Heather Antonelli was born and raised in Florida and has had an exciting lifelong career working with animals. She started out with a local Humane Society before branching out into the Animal Control field, followed by emergency medicine and private practice. Heather has also rehabilitated many orphaned animals of all species. She is a mom of two amazing boys, Brayden and Blake, and her American Bully, Karma. She enjoys the Florida beach life in her free time.  heather
   
Courtney Butts moved to Florida from Phoenix Arizona where her love for all creatures started at a very young age. She started at a local pet store, decided to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine, and completed her A.S. Degree in Veterinary Technology at Kaplan college in 2007. She resides here in Punta Gorda with her two children, Kyson and Carly, along with their two dogs and three cats. Courtney enjoys all the outdoor activities this beautiful sunshine state has to offer.  Courtney
   
Esther Calderon was born and raised here in Florida and she has always been surrounded with cats and dogs growing up. Her favorite part of being a veterinary technician is getting to rehabilatate sick pets and seeing them thrive again. When Esther is not helping animals, she is spending time with her husband, Albert, and her four beautiful children. They love to go to the beach and enjoy all the family activities Florida has to offer.    Esther
   
Laura Kollett is our wonderful receptionist here at Peace River Veterinary Clinic. She has worked in the veterinary field for over 20 years and loves interacting with all our clients and patients. Laura attended the University of South Florida and recieved her bachelor's degree in criminology. She realized that was not the right field for her and left to pursue a career in veterinary medicine (the best decision she ever made!). Laura shares her life with her husband, Greg, 3 beagles, and 2 cats. She enjoys the outdoors and likes kayaking and gardening. laura
   
Bonnie Lazaro has lived in Florida her whole life and graduated from Charlotte High School. Her favorite part of being a veterinary technician is getting to meet all the adorable pets that come through our doors. Bonnie's love for animals started when she got her first dog as a kid, and ever since she has surrounded herself with dogs and cats. When she isn't helping animals, she is playing with her dog, Izzie, or spending time in the water with her family in Arcadia. bonnie
   
Victoria Myers is a New Jersey native who has lived in Florida on and off her whole life until she found her "forever place" in Punta Gorda. She resides here with her husband, Damien, and their three children Madelynn, Matthew, and Madison. Her family loves their rescued Pit Bulls, chickens, and goats. Victoria has worked in the veterinary field for many years and is passionate about patient care. In her free time she goes to the beach, kayaks, paddle boards, and fishes with her family.                 Victoria
   
Kaylin Raycraft has lived in Florida her entire life and graduated from Charlotte High School after interning at Peace River Veterinary Clinic in 2012. She completed her A.S. degree in Veterinary Technology at St. Petersburg College. Her pets are a rottweiler and a bull mastiff. Kaylin is very happy to be working with the clients and their pets here as she has always wanted to work in the veterinary profession.  kaylin
   
Jenna Shackelford grew up in Punta Gorda and has always had a love for animals. In her youth Jenna raised and showed many animals including rabbits, poultry and equine. She was a former 4H member participating in activities on state and national levels. Jenna now calls Arcadia home with her many dogs and horses. She loves speding time upriver with her friends and family and she is happy to be part of PRVC. jenna
